Can we *modify* the scale to make it a giant's chair or a doll's chair? What if we *put it to another use* as a plant stand? What if we *eliminate* the backrest? What if we *reverse* it and hang it from the ceiling? Most of the results will be absurd, but the process forces you to break out of your conventional thinking patterns and can sometimes lead to a genuinely innovative breakthrough. It was a visual argument, a chaotic shouting match. In science and engineering, where collaboration is global and calculations must be exact, the metric system (specifically the International System of Units, or SI) is the undisputed standard. The model is the same: an endless repository of content, navigated and filtered through a personalized, algorithmic lens. My goal must be to illuminate, not to obfuscate; to inform, not to deceive. Sketching is fast, cheap, and disposable, which encourages exploration of many different ideas without getting emotionally attached to any single one.
