It begins with an internal feeling, a question, or a perspective that the artist needs to externalize. This is not simple imitation but a deep form of learning, absorbing a foundational structure from which their own unique style can later emerge. At its most basic level, it contains the direct costs of production. But I'm learning that this is often the worst thing you can do. Each of these chart types was a new idea, a new solution to a specific communicative problem.
