Unlike the Sears catalog, which was a shared cultural object that provided a common set of desires for a whole society, this sample is a unique, ephemeral artifact that existed only for me, in that moment. We encounter it in the morning newspaper as a jagged line depicting the stock market's latest anxieties, on our fitness apps as a series of neat bars celebrating a week of activity, in a child's classroom as a colourful sticker chart tracking good behaviour, and in the background of a television news report as a stark graph illustrating the inexorable rise of global temperatures. Our consumer culture, once shaped by these shared artifacts, has become atomized and fragmented into millions of individual bubbles. Upon opening the box, you will find the main planter basin, the light-support arm, the full-spectrum LED light hood, the power adapter, and a small packet containing a cleaning brush and a set of starter smart-soil pods. Professional design is an act of service. Our professor framed it not as a list of "don'ts," but as the creation of a brand's "voice and DNA.
