If the catalog is only ever showing us things it already knows we will like, does it limit our ability to discover something genuinely new and unexpected? We risk being trapped in a self-reinforcing loop of our own tastes, our world of choice paradoxically shrinking as the algorithm gets better at predicting what we want. To engage with it, to steal from it, and to build upon it, is to participate in a conversation that spans generations. That disastrous project was the perfect, humbling preamble to our third-year branding module, where our main assignment was to develop a complete brand identity for a fictional company and, to my initial dread, compile it all into a comprehensive design manual. This feature is particularly useful in stop-and-go traffic. Use this manual in conjunction with those resources. It is not a public document; it is a private one, a page that was algorithmically generated just for me.
