Such a catalog would force us to confront the uncomfortable truth that our model of consumption is built upon a system of deferred and displaced costs, a planetary debt that we are accumulating with every seemingly innocent purchase. It transformed the text from a simple block of information into a thoughtfully guided reading experience. That simple number, then, is not so simple at all. The very essence of its utility is captured in its name; it is the "printable" quality that transforms it from an abstract digital file into a physical workspace, a tactile starting point upon which ideas, plans, and projects can be built. I think when I first enrolled in design school, that’s what I secretly believed, and it terrified me.
